The details..

FM 9-6 is a publication from Department of the Army that prescribes doctrine for munitions support. The manual addresses missions, operations, and interactions between different levels of munitions support. It outlines procedures for commanders and staffs operating within a munitions structure.

The book includes two important doctrinal changes - incorporation of maneuver oriented ammunition distribution system (MOADS) into an ammunition structure as well as introduction of modular platoons with heavy lift or medium lift capabilities depending on mission requirements. These platoons are capable to deploy independently but require external sustainment.

It implements several standardization agreements such as STANAG 2034 Land Forces Procedures for Allied Supply Transactions; STANAG 2135 Procedures for Emergency Logistics Assistance; STANAG 2827 Materials Handling in Field etc., which allow it to effectively take advantage technology & palletized loads (PLS).

In addition to this, FM 9-6 also covers topics related environment policy & goals; safety responsibilities; risk assessment & management techniques along with maintenance & surveillance operations.
